The Conference Executive Committee on December 14, 2010 voted to approve Ron Rasmussen as the new executive secretary for the Central California Conference. Rasmussen is currently serving as senior pastor of the Modesto Parkwood Church.

“Quietly and unbeknownst to him, the gifts, skills and capabilities needed for this position were already displayed over many years of observation,” says Ramiro Cano, conference president. “The Lord has in many ways already affirmed the committee’s decision.”

Rasmussen has served in Central since July 1981 when he first began in ministry. He has been an assistant pastor at Bakersfield Hillcrest, associate pastor at Sunnyvale and senior pastor at Chowchilla, San Luis Obispo, Morro Bay, and Modesto Parkwood.

In addition, Rasmussen has been chairman of the Conference Property Management Committee, co-chair of the Soquel Conference Center Task Force and a member of the Conference Constitution & Bylaws Committee. He has also served on the Pacific Union Conference Bylaws Committee.

He has a bachelor of arts from Loma Linda University, with a major in ministerial studies and a concentration in educational ministry. He received a master of divinity from Andrews University, Mich., in 1985. In 2001 he completed a doctorate in ministry from Fuller Theological Seminary, Pasadena, Calif. Areas of concentration are church growth, church health, church leadership, marketing and mission, church management, and conflict management.

He is married to Marla Edsell, who teaches kindergarten at Fresno Adventist Academy. They have two grown daughters Laurita and Danita.

“God leads in powerful ways. It is just amazing how He has led all through the years,” says Rasmussen. “God has always chosen for us areas where we have been able to grow. He has never led us wrong. Marla and I have a real strong commitment to ministry in Central.”

Debra Amador, Administrative Secretary to the Secretariat & Conference Clerk

"God, if I have to go back to work, I really want to work for you," prayed Debbie Amador, a busy mother of four boys. "You know I don't want to work for a big company like I did before. Maybe I could be an administrative assistant at the conference office? That would be perfect."

The next day the church bulletin listed a job opening for an administrative secretary at the conference office. "God was way ahead of me," says Debbie with a smile. She began work as Administrative Secretary to the Executive Secretary and Conference Clerk in October 2008.

Her responsibilities assisting Ron Rasmussen are a variety of areas including paperwork and research needs. As clerk she helps local church clerks with membership needs, maintains the eAdventist database, and reports conference membership to the Pacific Union.

Debbie enjoys spending time with her four boys, Brent, 20; Ithiel, 13; Othniel, 10; and Ezekiel, 7. The family enjoys time together, especially hiking and playing outside.

Prayer is a lifeline for Debbie. "I‘ve come to realize that prayer is so essential to every aspect of my life - from the most mundane to the most important. I'm really passionate about my prayer life and helping my kids learn how to pray. I'm so glad God is always there when I need Him."

Debbie's favorite scriptures are:

Isaiah 41:10 "Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness."

Isaiah 49:25 "But thus saith the LORD, Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away, and the prey of the terrible shall be delivered: for I will contend with him that contendeth with thee, and I will save thy children."
